Android App Help! (Security Issues)?
>>Click Here for The Best Internet Marketing Tools <<
I just got my first smartphone, the Samsung Captivate from AT&T. When I go to the Market to install apps, many of them say "This application has access to the following:"
! Storage- Modify or delete SD card contents
! Network communication- Full internet access
! Phone calls- Read phone state
! System tools- Change network connectivity, read system log files
What do these mean?? Are other people able to see my personal information??
This particular app was Dr. Web Anti-virus.

That would depend on the app that you are downloading. Sounds like your downloading a news app or something along those lines
It will depend on what app you are trying to get. Some apps need access to these services. For example, a music player will require to be able to access storage information on your SD card. An IM client will require network communication. A call recorder, or Google Voice for example will need to use your phone state. System tools are the basics of the phone. For example, I have a widget that allows me to turn my pattern lock on and off which will require access to system tools.
If in doubt, ask the developer why that particular program requires access. Another suggestion is to get an anti-malware app for your phone. I personally use lookout which can be found in the market. It will scan your phone for viruses, and malware. Keep in mind, like all AV program, there is a possibility for false positives.
Also, all smart phones are like mini computers, and if your look at the MSRP – pricier. Keep this in mind when you are installing. Ask yourself if you really need some program. Hope this helps.

They are not able to see any information, The program can. You should allow it, as DR-Web is reputable software.
