What the best way to start an affiliate website in ireland is there any kind of free web space that lets you use an affiliate program or do you have to buy your own webspace.

Create your own affiliate programme. = need to buy hosting, and domain name (first).
Take part in an affiliate programme. = ususally free because its someone elses.
Depends on who you are working with, affilliate wise. Google adsense is def a great way to go, learn it understand it and create a content based site and ad the links on there. Informational websites are killin it now a days because they have what people are looking for.. my source for example

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world to start an affiliate website – that’s not an issue.
You can use free like blogspot or squidoo to create an affiliate site, but my experience is you’re going to have to get a host and buy your own domain.
The host provides your webspace for the site and the domain is the address of your website. Use hostgator.com for you host and godaddy.com for domains. They’re both pretty cheap.
